This powerful overture is real “Sturm und Drang” – a storm is depicted with thunder, lightning and hail. It is a very unusual piece, the “Sturm und Drang” elements existing side by side with some almost Handelian part-writing. Although written for Vienna this is definitely an “English” piece.
