The works contained in this volume constitute all Cui’s original works for violoncello (the Scherzando and Cantabile, op. 36, and the Barcarolle, op. 81), together with all the transcriptions known to the editor (the Romance Favorite; the Cantabile and Berceuse, op. 20, nos. 5 and 8; the Cavatina, op. 25; the Romanzetta, op. 39, no. 6; and the Orientale and Perpetuum Mobile, op. 50, nos. 9 and 12). It is possible that other transcriptions may surface, but the present collection is certainly representative.
