Rinaldo, which marked Handel’s Operatic debut in London, was a runaway success. It opened on 24th. February 1711 and ran for an initial 15 performances. It was often revived in later years and became the most performed of all of the Operas, notching up a total of 53 performances. Such was the work’s popularity that tunes from it even found their way into ‘The Beggars Opera’
