The manuscript from which this edition is prepared is in the Danish ‘Kongelige Bibliotek’ in Copenhagen. It is catalogued under “Anonymous” since it bears no composer’s name. There is a note on the manuscript, in another hand, suggesting it is in the hand of Claus Nielsen Schall. In terms of style and content it fits in with the predominantly dance output of Schall. On the other hand he may merely have been the copyist.
