This arrangement was made specifically to be programmed with Mendelssohn’s famous Octet Op.20 [the original version of the Octet is published by Fountayne Editions FE108]. I enjoyed immensely making this arrangement, getting deeply involved in Mendelssohn’s wonderful scoring and imagining how best to transfer it to the medium of a string octet. My grateful thanks go to Peter Hanson who had the initial idea and who gave many helpful comments on the way to its completion. The first performance of this arrangement was given by Peter Hanson and Concerto Copenhagen on 6th March 2019 at Gisselfeld Monastery, Haslev, Denmark.
